Frequently Asked Questions

How do I play Liar's Poker? What are the game play rules?

1. Each player at the table is given a 'serial number', an 8-digit number that is kept secret from the other players. Players in turn bid on the combined numbers in all serial numbers, your own and those of the other players: for example "three 4's" beats "three 3's", but "four 3's" beats both of those. Zeros are low and nines are high.

2. Each player must in turn either declare a higher hand than the previous bidder, or challenge the current bid by calling 'Liar'. In a game of 3 or more players, all players must challenge to end the game.

3. When the bidder is challenged by all other players, the combined serial numbers will be used to determine if the last hand called exists. For example, if the challenged hand is four 8's then there must be at least four 8's on the combined serial numbers.

4. If the serial numbers support the challenged player then the player will win the hand, and collect a point from all other players. Otherwise the other players each collect a point from the losing player.
